Un-Constitutional | August 26, 2010
Perriello's method is intended to make him look like a reasonable "moderate." But there is a reason he votes with the Democratic leadership on all of the really important pieces of legislation, and that is because he accepts the Democrats' radicalism on one central issue: their view of the unlimited power of government and their contempt for constitutional restraints. The Hostile Takeover | August 23, 2010
The key to the power of the Tea Party movement is the way it makes it possible for religious tea partiers and secular free-marketers, such as myself, to work together without having to compromise our principles.(->)
Ground Zero Remains a Zero | August 20, 2010
Whether or not a mosque is built near the World Trade Center building is totally irrelevant. It is what has not been done with the site that matters. (->)

Why We Can Win, Part 3: The Paradise of the Infidels | August 10, 2010
Every religion promises an eventual reward, in an otherworldly paradise, for those who are faithful to its creed—while threatening unbelievers with an eventual punishment, a hell. But what if those who believe this creed begin to realize that heaven and hell already exist and have been reversed? What if they see that it is the devout believers who live in a hell on earth—while the infidels live in an earthly paradise? (->)

The Metaphysics of Marriage | August 5, 2010
In light of this week's ruling by a federal judge striking down an amendment to California's state constitution that banned "gay marriage," I thought it would be timely to republish an article I wrote on the subject in the March 2004 print issue of TIA, when there was a push for a federal constitutional amendment.(->)
Big Government Is the Real Disaster | August 4, 2010
It was not the oil spill that harmed the Gulf economy. It was government intervention—and only government intervention—that did it. (->)
The Year of the Tea Party Voter | August 3, 2010
By the end of this month, we'll be immersed in the real substance of the general election contest for control of Congress, so now is a good time for a look at how the contest is going.(->)
A Right to Exist If We Don't | July 5, 2010
This year, we are called upon to decide the most important political issue there is: are there any limits on the power of government? The question is not, what are the limits on government? The question is: are there any limits at all?(->)

Thomas Jefferson's Tea Party Speech | July 4, 2010
At the Jefferson Area Tea Party's Independence Day celebration in Charlottesville, Virginia, we were favored by a surprise visit from our most famous local celebrity, the Sage of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson came to read the Declaration of Independence to our audience, but after he was done, our emcee, radio talk show host Joe Thomas, asked the third president if he could favor us with his views on today's Tea Party movement. Here is what Mr. Jefferson said. (->)

Noble Cause Corruption | June 29, 2010
How reliable are the measurements climate scientists use? What happens if their measuring apparatus is altered by something as simple as a coat of paint that lifts the average recordings? Will anyone spot it? And if someone does, what happens? (->)
Redistribution of Speech | June 28, 2010
The phrase that should really terrify you is this one: "redistribution of speech opportunities." It sums up, in one phrase, the suicide of liberalism, its degeneration from a supposed defense of liberty to a rationalization for tyranny.(->)
Australia's Obama Falls | June 24, 2010

I have an interesting update from Tom Minchin on surprise events in Australia, but first a more urgent warning on a vote in the House today on the DISCLOSE Act, a new attack on the freedom of political speech.

Planning to Fail | June 23, 2010
The oil spill is the area where the failure of Obama's leadership is most obvious—but it is not the area where it is most important. There are three crises that are much bigger than the Gulf oil spill—and the bad news is that Obama is ignoring them, too. (->)
