"The brothers would spend the rest of their lives after Kitty Hawk fighting off those who wanted to steal their invention, a list of people ranging from the most revered aviation authorities of the time to downright con artists."

After their historic flight at Kitty Hawk, the Wright Brothers expected to be rewarded, both financially and with recognition for their achievement—but they would have to fight both for their intellectual property rights and for their place in history.
