Their scenarios—filled with enough baseless assumptions and flaky speculation to make a locked-ward mental patient blush—are to be rejected as arbitrary.

What is most striking about The Matrix is that the delusion scenarios of skepticism coexist harmoniously with what is traditionally regarded as their philosophical antipode: religious mysticism.
